Services We Provide
Arthritis Management
Osteoarthritis or arthritis can affect pets of any age and worsen their quality of life because of the chronic pain and impaired mobility. Some common symptoms include lameness, a decrease in activity, and less interest in playing or walking. Once a pet is diagnosed with arthritis, we offer a multi-modal approach to manage pain, including:
Laser Therapy
In this non-invasive procedure, a laser at a specific wavelength is aimed at the affected tissues for a short duration. The laser stimulates the blood vessels to dilate, allowing the movement of wastes and oxygen, vital sugars, and protein to be delivered. This outpatient therapy does not require pets to be sedated and can be performed weekly.
Joint Injections
Intra-articular joint injections are a non-surgical option for arthritis management. This procedure allows the veterinarian to target the affected joint(s) specifically and is performed under general anesthesia to ensure accuracy. Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), polyacrylamide hydrogels, or a steroid may be injected at the joint.
Diagnostic Imaging
Imaging techniques allow vets to see inside a pet's body in ways that are noninvasive—that is, no instruments must cut or go through the skin—and help diagnose many conditions.
Echocardiography
This specialty procedure allows the veterinarian to visualize the heart, its structures, and its function in real time. Visualizing the heart allows the veterinarian to better diagnose heart disease or evaluate a heart murmur.
Radiography
X-ray imaging (radiography) is painless, but pets may be sedated to decrease stress and help them stay still. X-ray exposure is very brief and uses low doses of radiation. Lead shields protect the rest of the pet's body and the people taking the x-rays. X-ray images (also known as radiographs) show bones, some foreign objects (like rubber or metal), and large body cavities. X-rays are good for detecting fractures, tumors, injuries, and deformities.
Ultrasonography
Ultrasound uses sound waves to create images from the echoes that bounce off tissues. Ultrasound is better than x-rays for showing soft tissues but can't image lungs, intestines, or bone well. The operator presses a probe against the body—usually the abdomen—and moves it to scan organs. Modern ultrasound provides real-time images that move as the probe moves. Ultrasound is painless, noninvasive, and safe. It is commonly used to examine the abdomen.
